IOS 6 Jailbreak Overloading Cydia Servers

IOS 6 Jailbreak is here, but don't get excited.

On Monday, Feb 4, 2013, the Evad3rs team release the highly anticipated IOS6 Jailbreak.   We have been waiting anxiously since the day the iPhone 5 was released back in October.
Unfortunately, all you will get with this jailbreak is a Cydia icon on your springboard as it is basically useless.  We have tried and tried and can't even get so much as out Cydia account info page to load.

Cydia is being hammered with quite literally millions of people trying to jailbreak and install bells and whistles for their coveted idevices.

We know it is frustrating, but just hang tight a little longer until things slow down and Cydia servers can get a little breathing room.

Hopefully it will be sooner than later!

First Impression: Mountain Lion

Whether its Mac or PC, Android or IOS, we try to stay on the up and up with today's latest and greatest technology.
Mountain Lion for Mac was released yesterday and we grabbed a few copies here at the office.

Basically, Mountain Lion (OSX 10.8) is exactly what we expected.  It has tons of new features and most of them streamline the already streamlined look and feel to the OS.

If you have an iPhone and/or iPad  you will be amazed at how well they work together with Mountain Lion.   Your browsing history, text messages, bookmarks, reminders, and notifications sync between your devices making it pretty damn difficult to forget to put the gazpacho on ice.

Apple  also implemented Facebook and Twitter into several of the apps.  It is now much easier to post up a link to a cool website on your Facebook page.  No longer do you have to open Facebook or twitter in order to make a post.  You can do it directly from the app you are using.

Messages is a new twist on iMessage.  With Mountain Lion you can send text messages to any iPhone, iPad, or Mac for free.  This also includes pictures and HD video.  Your favorite instant messaging service is also available with Message.  You wont have to open AIM or Yahoo! Messenger anymore.  Just plug your IM account information into Message and you will be IMing and texting all from the same app... Flawlessly!

Safari has quite a few new tweaks as well.  One cool new feature is the search/address bar.  You no longer have to browse over to Google in order search the web.  Just type in a url OR a search term and Safari knows what to do.  We also like how the tab bar spans the entire window.  the size of each tab depends on how many tabs you have open.  You can also get a sneak peak at each tab by pinching the track pad and swiping between tabs.  Safari has made several improvements, but I have been waiting for years to see one small tweak and Apple stood me up again!  I have a ton of bookmarks... a TON.  I primarily use the bookmarks toolbar for easy access to my favs and I do not have room for any text.  I have 50 or so favicons spanning my entire Firefox browser.  Safari has yet to allow me to use favicons in my bookmark bar, so I will continue to use Firefox.  Honestly,  at this point I don't think I will ever move over to Safari.  Firefox has treated me right for several years and their add-ons never cease to amaze me.  Mountain Lon and Firefox are not happy together yet, so I have been forced to use Safari for a few websites and I have been impressed with the changes they have made.

The most exciting feature for us at the office was the new screen sharing feature with Mountain Lion.  Untethered sharing my Mac screen with the 65" tv in the conference room was going to be killer.  Unfortunately,  your Mac cant be more than 18 months old for this to work.  My Macbook Pro is just a few months beyond the cutoff.  Its a cool feature, but not worth the $1300 computer upgrade it would cost me to get it.  I must say I was more than a little bummed when I heard the bad news.

We have noticed a few bugs with yesterdays release. Among the most irritating is the wifi problem.  I have had to manually reconnect my wifi after my computer goes to sleep.  I have also lost me network connection 3 times since starting this blog.    Its not a big deal and Im sure it will be rectified with an update in the next few days.

For the most part, Mountain Lion is a quick thinking, well-adapted OS that is sure to make life on your Mac even easier than it already was.  There are many more features with OSX 10.8 and we plan on filling you in on them once we wrap our heads around it.  Until then, enjoy the new OS.  We certainly will!
